SM Town- the mother of K Pop concert in Singapore

So all of you K Pop fans (and even non K Pop fans) would know about it by now (seeing as it’s been all over the internet, print and I think even radio, it’s a little hard to miss). Yes, SM Town live will be in Singapore.

Last Thursday, RITS hosted a little tea party for all the media, partners and sponsors at the rooftop of the very swanky Fullerton Bay Hotel (at the old Collayer Quay). It had a totally cool swimming pool and one fantastic view.

Anyway, over drinks and finger food, Beatrice took the opportunity to thank everyone at present, introduce her staff (which happens to be an all female team) and talked about the company in the past 3 years. Has it really only been 3 years? I first heard about them at Super Junior’s showcase presented by Samsung and SingTel in 2010. Anyway, it was good to get to know a little more about the company and the people behind it although I would still probably only bugged Cheryl (^^).

And then came the important announcement- SM Town would be held in Singapore on 23 November 2012 at the Marina Barrage.

Of course, most of us had already knew or heard about the mega concret but it was still good to hear the confirmation from the organiser directly. And although there was supposedly an embargo on the news till 6am the next morning, it was too exciting for some and before long the social media world was filled with tweets, posts etc of the upcoming concert till it was trending over the next few days in Singapore.

The details for the concert will be out veery soon. In the meantime, here are the confirmed facts first:

Date: 23 November 2012
Time: 6.30pm
Venue: The Float @ Marina Bay
Capacity: 18,000
Mosh pit tickets: 5,000
Duration of concert: 4 hours
Priority booking dates: 29 September – 1 October 2012
Priority booking: Samsung handset customers and OCBC Card members
Public booking date: 2nd October 2012 onwards
Confirmed artistes: Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, BoA

In case some of you do not know where is the The Float @ Marina Bay….

As with SM Town concerts, expect lots of bangs, pops, lights and stunts. Which means the production fees will cost two arms and two legs plus a head. Hopefully, the ticket pricing will range from the very affordable to the burn-a-big-hole in the pocket for those who want the in-your-face contact with the artistes. And of all the many artistes who may be coming, I think the following will be the most anticipated. Yes?

Will the concert sell-out and be a success? It will all depend on you, the fans. Say a prayer and cross your fingers?

Beatrice (the Creative Director of Running into the Sun) said- “SM Town is truely the mother-of-all K -Pop”. So how could you refuse to watch 어머니 when she is town right?

But if SM Town is the mother, would that make YG Family concert the father? What about JYP Nation and Cube United? Are they cousins or in-laws? Hmmm…
