I watched the first 2 episodes of ‘Tale of Nine-tailed’ last week for the man above. And he totally ‘seduced’, I mean charmed me. He was so devilish charming that I would have willingly offered my liver to him on a plate.
Starring Lee Dong Wook, Jo Bo Ah and Kim Boem, the drama is about ‘gumiho’ (nine tale fox/ 九尾狐), humans, undying love and brotherly angst with lots of action and magic thrown in.
While most are looking forward to seeing Lee Dong Wook, I’m keen to see Kim Boem back in action again after his mandatory military service ended this year. So far, the drama has not disappoint me. However I hope his character will not be too wicked, as I couldn’t bring myself to watch ‘Mrs Cop 2’ where he played a really wicked murderer (even though he still managed to look dashing in it).
This young man has come a long way since I first saw him in ‘Rude Women’ as a gangly teenager. I think it was his smile that caught my eye. Then in ‘Boys Over Flowers’, both he and Kim Hyun Joong received my undivided attention over Lee Min Ho (I could not get past the permed hair).
Who bought the above notebooks, hands up!
But I think he really captured my heart in ‘The Woman Who Still wants to Marry’. In this Younger-Man-Older-Woman theme, he convinced the viewers (me) that one must go boldly and passionately into love. I absolutely melted at that scene where he brought birthday cake into Shin Young’s (Park Jin Hee) room. You can check out the clip on the post by clicking on the link above.
Did you know that he tied up with KBS for an exclusive date camp with some very lucky fans? That included one lucky Singaporean, Ruo Yun in 2010. I wonder if she still likes him after 10 years?
He’s also ventured out to in Chinese movies. It was surreal to see him ‘speaking’ in Mandarin the movie, ‘Young Detective Dee Rise of the Sea Dragon’ and as Angelababy’s lover. Poor guy didn’t get to show much of his handsome face as he slowly changed into the sea dragon.. complete with scales!
It’s a pity that he hasn’t been able to land the lead role (being the villain does not count) so far. I hope that with this drama, he will get the opportunity to do so. He has shown that he has the looks and he can act. After all, many with lesser skills and experience than him have had lead roles. Perhaps, the fox luck may rub off onto him this time.
Tale of the Nine-Tailed is available on Viu SG on Thursday and Friday, 4 hours after the drama airs in Korea.
