Netflix to launch original Korean variety show, ‘Busted!’

The Netflix original Korean variety show ‘Busted! I Know Who You Are’ will launch on May 4 to Netflix members globally.

After Okja, the first Netflix movie directed by Bong Joon Ho, Netflix is ready to flex it’s muscles further with the first Korean variety show.

The show will star veterans Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Jong Min, Ahn Jae Wook and Park Min Young. Younger K-pop stars Sehun of Exo and Sejeong of Gugudan will make up the cast of seven.

‘Busted! I Know Who You Are’ is a new type of K-variety where the seven members act as detectives to solve a fun-filled mystery in each episode. Expect appearances from special guest stars in every episode.

The 10-episode season will be released 2 episodes per week starting on May 4 globally in over 90 countries.

I’ve actually been surprised to see a fair number of Korean shows on Netflix, an entertainment platform that I associate more with Western shows like ‘Narcos’, ‘House of Cards’, ‘The Crown’ etc. However, the recently concluded Hwayugi thats aired on tvN in Korea was distributed by Netflix globally. The on going ‘Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast’ is also available. They have some classics like the ‘Reply’ series, ‘Nine’ and ‘Mischievous Kiss’. Expect to see more current Korean dramas and varieties as Netflix has partnered with CJ E&M, a leading content and media company in Korea.
