I’m not sure how I got to know Tim. Was it through one of the osts that he sang? One of the many music videos? Or perhaps through the recommendation of the very friendly cd shop owner at Myeongdong…
Whatever it was, I found myself loving this guy’s voice. I have almost his his album except 2 of them.
If you love singers like Sung Si Kyung, Jo Sung Mo, Evan, Eru, Lee Seung Chul, Kim Bom Soo, Position and Lee Soo Young, then you would not be unfmailiar with Tim. He belongs to the group of great ballad singers. Unfortunately, in today’s K Pop world where young idol groups rule, these singers with wonderful voices are not as greatly appreciated. I think he himself has admited he is not exactly suited to sing fast songs. But with his clear, soulful, he is able convey and connect to his listeners the feelings and emotions in the songs.
I guess it’s no wonder that Tim has been called the Prince of Ballads.
Just like Brian Joo, Tim is an American Korean and speaks both languages fluently which helps when he appears in concerts and fan meets overseas.
Tim has sang for many dramas- like ’49 Days’.
His song, Unnecessary Words taken from his 5th album – New Beginnings were featured in the drama, ‘Secret Garden’. (side note, apparently he and Ha Jo Won are friends via their shared interest of mountain hiking). This song was composed by the famous composer/ pianist- Yiruma.
Like many actors/ singers recently, Tim is also involved in a musical, although he is no stranger to it, having already appeared in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and ‘Organ in My Heart’. He is currently appearing in ‘Legally Blonde’, opposite Hessica of Girls’ Generation. I would love to watch him in a musical but I doubt any organier will bring it to Singapore….
Tim released his 6th album (a mini one) last year entitled A Long Day. This is my favourite- Will You? A mid-tempo love song. ^^
Before I end this post, here is a little clip from his Hong Kong concert, singing his hit song- I Love You (사랑합니다). Don’t you get goosebumps just listening to his live performance? If you don’t want to miss this opportunity to hear him sing live, then get your tickets now. He may not have slick dance moves like some of the young idol groups but I’m certain you will be seduced by his voice.
I wonder if I can still get the missing 2 albums to complete my collection. Can I get his autograph for being such a loyal fan huh. hehe!
This is one concert I am truely looking forward to.
Hi Tiffany, where do you buy Tim’s ablum?
Hi Josephine, apology for the late response. I bring in the albums myself via my company. ^^
