StarHub TV announced at the press conference today major revamp as well as the addition of 2 new channels to their line-up- ONE & KMTV.
E City (Ch 825)
First, the news that all Singaporeans will like to hear- E City will be free to all subscribers from 25 April to 31 December 2012, that’s about 20 months! The line up of programmes and the schedule will also change.
Weekdays (Mon- Fri)
7pm: 戏剧七点档/ Soap Drama for the Family
Some of the dramas lined up include ‘Golden Fish‘ (16 May) and ‘Smile Donghae‘.
8pm: 娛乐八点档/ Taiwanese Variety
10pm: 四角酷/Youth Time Belt
This time belt will essentially showcase idol dramas (mostly from Taiwan). Some of the dramas include ‘欢迎爱光临/That Love Comes‘ (11 Apr) & ‘Channel X/國民英雄‘ (25 Apr)
Weekends (Sat-Sun)
There will be marathon viewing of weekday dramas in the morning from 8am onwards. Also new is a Chinese educational programme for children. I believe this would be welcomed by many parents as this is sorely lacking on our TV network.
周末好康 will offer variety programmes from Korea, Taiwan & China. K Pop fans will be interested to know that 2NE1 TV Season 2 is now showing every Sunday @ 11.30pm. And Shaowls will be pleased that they can watch Hello Baby Shinee from 12 June onwards (Sunday, 11.30pm)
JK drama time belt remains unchanged. ‘Playful Kiss‘ (or Naughty Kiss) will air on 16th April (Saturday) @ 10.30pm.
Remember E City will be free from 25th April till end of 2012.
VV Drama (Ch 855), +3 VV Drama (Ch 856)
VV Drama offers exclusive TVB (HK) dramas in Singapore
Weekdays (Mon-Fri)
I know there are lots of fans of the long suffering Taiwanese drama- ‘娘家/ A Place called Home‘ so if you are one, you will be pleased to know that it has been extended to 2 hours, from 6pm to 8pm. Does that mean no dinner till after 8pm? Hmm…
Fans of HK dramas will be happy that they can watch the latest dramas from 8pm to 12mn for 4 hours straight. (I’m not sure when this takes effect coz it is not reflected in the April programme schedule. Hopefully soon)
Weekends (Sat-Sun)
Primetime drama will be extended featuring TVB and Korean dramas (the latest drama, ‘My Princess‘ starring Song Seung Hun & Kim Tae Hee is scheduled for screening. No dates for the moment)
TVBJ (Ch 838)
TVBJ offers general entertainment programme in Cantonese. I know it’s actually a great favourite with many people. Like Korean dramas, HK dramas have to be watched in its original language- Cantonese.
They will be revamping the line up and one of the changes will be airing HK dramas in its original Cantonese language concurrently showing on VV Drama (dubbed in Chinese), ie, you can watch it in Chinese on VV Drama (Ch 855) or Cantonese on TVBJ (Ch 838). Makes sense? And the window period will be as short as 6 months. And for those who watches the news from HK (which my aunt does), this will now be live instead of delayed (delayed news is stale news).
And now for the 2 new Korean channels- ONE & KMTV
ONE (Ch 823), ONE HD (Ch 876)
ONE will start on 9th April and will be free till 6th May. Thereafter, it will go under the Chinese Entertainment Basic Group, the ONE HD will be under the HD upsize (after 30 Sep 11).
ONE features exclusive SBS programmes and is already available in Malaysia. Some of the dramas we are likely to look forward to would be future one like ‘City Hunter‘ (Lee Min Ho). Current dramas like ‘Midas‘ (Jang Hyuk, No Min Woo) and ‘49 Days‘ (Lee Yo Won, Jo Hyun Jae) and variety shows like Strong Heart, Running Man, Heroes will be much anticipated by many fans. And lastly concert and music shows like K Pop countdown will be amongst it’s line up.
The programmes are in Korean with Chinese subtitles. Mandarin dubbing is also available for selected prime-time dramas.
ONE is under SPE Networks, which counts AXN, Animax amongst it channels. You can check here for infor and programme schedule on ONE.
Remember ONE will be free from 9th April till 6th May 2011.
You may want to check out my postings on ONE here. Now, if only they will get No Min Woo here to promote Midas. Sigh.
I will be back with more infor on ONE once I receive them.
KMTV
KMTV will be launched soon. Stay tuned for udpates
KMTV will be heaven for K Pop lovers as it is a 24 hour Korean channel offering mainly music and live performances. There will also be variety shows as well as dramas. KMTV offers its selection from all the channels in Korea. One of the highly anticipated show that everyone will be looking forward to will be M Countdown, Muzit and M Superconcert. (I wonder if they will show Big Bang special. Hmmm…) Of interest to K Pop lovers would also be the specials on these singers/ groups like MBLAQ, 2PM, SHINee, Girls Generation etc.
You can take a look at their website- http://www.kmtv.asia/
but I think it’s not quite complete as some of the infor is wrong. Will update here when I have more infor.
At the press conference today, 4 Hong Kong and Taiwan stars also made an appearance. The HK stars, 胡杏儿/Myolie Wu, 高钧贤/Matthew Ko, 陈敏之/Sharon Chan are pretty well known, belonging to the younger generation TVB artistes. 倪安东/Anthony Neely is of course well known after receiving the highest score of 33 points on the Taiwanese show, One Million Stars.
One last word. During the press conference, upon being asked about the availability of English subtitles for the Korean channels, Mr Chan Kin Hung, Head of Products and Solutions, StarHub TV replied that they are looking into it and will probably provide it in the future. So cross your fingers, those who prefer English subs.
